Week Beginning March 3, 2008
Some information about data collection has been emailed to you...the most important things being:
  • your maths data will need to be collected, collated and submitted by the end of week 3 next term (don't know who it has to be sent to yet - watch this space)
  • the Scaffolding Numeracy in the Middle Years assessment should use the "Option 2" (We were told Book 2) booklet which was included in your manual. Option 1 (or Book 1) will be used in November.
Please note that the finishing time for our Friday meetings is now 4pm and we will finish on time each week.
Susie Rogers and Emma Schafer will be at our meeting this week to talk about their roles and how the Ultranet will be implemented in our sub region.

Week Beginning February 18, 2008
This week, all Mornington Network Principals with coaches in their schools will have a meeting with Brian, Leonie and the coach(es) at their school to sign the MOU. All coaches have been emailed a copy of the revised MOU for them to review before the meeting.

We expect to have all Frankston network meetings completed by Friday February 29th. These meetings will include school Principals, Cheryl, Leonie and the relevant coaches. Some coaches will need to leave one of their schools to attend a meeting in another of their schools. Please see the meeting schedule for more information.

Week Beginning February 11, 2008
To anyone feeling a bit daunted about this week - you might like to remember the following things...
  • If you are giving a presentation to staff about coaching and your role, don't try to do too much all at once
  • Our purpose of giving these presentations is to give teachers a sense of what we can do for them, rather than how much we would like them to shift their thinking.
  • If you want to raise any issues about classrooms and teaching in the future, might I suggest that you get a clear idea of where each of your schools is at in regards to ICT, whole school curriculum planning, VELS and PoLT before opening these discussions? Some schools and teachers may be struggling with every day things and aren't interested at this stage in what the future might hold for them - we don't want to frighten them off just yet
  • Remember that our first few weeks will be about building relationships, having getting to know you conversations, finding out how our schools operate and observing some classes.
  • If you are observing classes, make sure you have established some ways of working together with the teacher(s). Such as, will you be observing for a focus (with a view to providing feedback) or will you be observing to get an idea of the classes and teachers in the school (therefore the teacher won't be expecting any feedback)?
  • Call Leonie if you need to talk through any issues that have arisen and they can't wait until Friday's meeting.
